PERGAMON

Pergamon Map
We didn't visit the Acropolis at Pergamon due to a new cable car that the Tour groups were unable to use for insurance reasons. And apparently the museum was closed too. We instead visited the Asklepieion (Asclepeion) which was believed to be more like a psychiatric hospital. In ancient Greece and Rome, an asclepeion was a healing temple, sacred to the god Asclepius. At modern day Pergamon (Bergama), this was located beside the army base which restricted photography in certain areas.
This visit was somewhat disappointing given I had just been to the Pergamon museum in Berlin only a few weeks earlier and thought we would visit the actual Acropolis. But still what we did see was good.
