We stopped at Pisa to visit the leaning tower.

Pisa was built on the river Arno and is most famous for the bell tower. Built on sandy ground the tower started to subside whilst the marble structure was being built, halting construction. Steps have been taken to stabilise the tower which in 1990 had a 5.5 degree lean; and it now remains on a stable 3.99 degree tilt.
We avoid the gypsies and touts by boarding a random inconspicuous vehicle. The 12th century walls are lined with stalls selling food, drinks and souvenirs. Inside the historic walls more stalls lined the side.
