CHAMONIX

Chamonix (Chamonix-Mont-Blanc) is famous for its spectacular cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m (12,605 ft)). Constructed in 1955, it was then the highest cable car in the world. Chamonix is also credited with hosting the First Winter Olympic games in 1924.
