BURGUNDY REGION - Troyes, Chablis, Vezelay, Beaune and Dijon

TROYES
Troyes is famous for the troye ounce. The town itself has strong a English flavour of architecture in its half timbered buildings.

On the road from Paris to Troyes. Troyes is a quaint old village with half timber buildings.
The dark narrow streets resulted in Cat street as the cats could jump from one building to another.

CHABLIS
We just managed to squeeze in another wine tasting. Glad the seat rotation on the bus didn't have me driving.

VEZELAY
Vezelay is a defendable hill town famous for Vézelay Abbey which is the resting place for Mary Magdalene.

The up hill climb starts at these gates.
Garden bar restaurants lead to the Abby.

VEZELAY TO DIJON.
As we traveled through Burgundy the countryside evolved into vinyards and the rain set in.

DIJON
Capital of the Burgundy region, Dijon is also famous for the method of making a style of mustard.

People make a wish when they stroke the owl on the side of the church. Another building has a pussy cat.

The proximity to Belgium may have influenced the locals taste in crazy. Gargoyels.

BEAUNE
Beaune is famous for its Flemish influenced roofs and hospice.

It was raining when we were there and everything was closed, so little chance of teddy getting sunburn :-)
